Penne rigate (ribbed tubes) belong to the short diagonal cut pasta family Della famiglia delle paste corte a taglio obliquo. Penne rigate originate from Campania. The diameter of the section is 8 mm and they are about 50 m long.

Penne rigate are perfect for baked casseroles and for dried pasta dishes served with pork or veal sauces. They are also delicious with vegetable sauces especially if with peppers, zucchini and artichokes.
